The exhibition is suffused with Lou Zhenggang’s appreciation for Japan, where she has resided for over fifteen years, on the eve of her departure. All of the dynamic new works were created exclusively for this exhibition and include large-scale and 3D pieces of Japanese papers, hanging scrolls, and more.
Shigeru Uchida collaborated in the design of the exhibition space at the Sogetsu Kaikan which in itself represents a fusion of modern art and traditional craft as did several traditional Japanese craftspeople in the making of the Koyanagi, Shiraishi-zaoshi, Echizenwashi and Tosaraku-suishi papers and paper lanterns. This collaboration between Lou Zhenggang and Japanese craftsmanship has created an epoch making show of new art transcends the boundaries of #calligraphy”.
Following this show, the works will tour the National Museum of Art Beijing and the Shanghai Art Museum. Source: The Organizer
